18 – an article in The Telegraph details a search being conducted by Damian Finucane
for missing episodes in Thailand. The article states that despite contacting
several TV stations he has so far had no success. Later, in 2013, this search

24 – In a post on GB that causes a clash to ensue between himself and
Richard Bignell, Ian Levine says that Philip Morris has never found a
missing episode of Doctor Who in his
life!
26 – BBC Radio 4 broadcasts a documentary presented by Shaun Ley
about the missing episodes of Doctor Who.
At 31:28, PV speaks about bicycling chains. At 32:00, Philip Morris speaks
about the same topic and how hard it can be to chase these paper trails to
places like Zambia. Morris says he did not find any BBC material, including Doctor Who, in Zambia, despite him
believing it was going to be the holy grail.
Morris goes on to wink at the fans with the comment: Time will tell,
watch this space. The fans will understand that!
The documentary also details the 1999 recovery of episode 1 of The Crusade, “The Lion”. Sue Malden
contributes to this section.
27 – On MEF, Ian Levine starts a thread about how the Radio 4 documentary
“systematically removed” all trace of him from the history of missing episodes.
He disputes that Paul Vanezis returned the episodes of The Reign of Terror from Cyprus, claiming instead that it was him.
Downthread, Paul Vanezis answers a question about Philip Morris, saying
that his comment about “watch this space” simply reflects the current state of
affairs. PV also says that the search is ongoing and is intended to be
methodical and definitive, and that they want to be able to say categorically
there are no episodes left in foreign archives.
Ian Levine then address Paul’s and Richard Bignell’s comments about
Roger Brunskill and Steve Bryant – they assisted Ian with the recoveries, but
it was Ian who physically typed and sent the telex requests to Cyprus.
30 – Paul Vanezis starts a thread entitled ‘Africa Progress 2010’ to continue
on from the previous thread, ‘Africa Progress’. He specifically names Philip
Morris as being the driving force of the recovery effort.
Additionally, he specifically names the following individuals as contributing
significantly to the research and recovery effort:
Philip Morris
Jon Preddle
Richard Bignell
Richard Molesworth
The Staff at the BBC’s Commercial Rights Department
In a later post on a separate thread, PV also names Damian Shanahan – he of the famous ABC censor clips recovery in the
1990’s – as part of the recovery effort.
